Celebrate Spring with First Friday April

The weather is warmer, the flowers are blooming and exciting things are happening in Downtown York! Come visit downtown businesses and attractions from 5-9 p.m., on April 5, to celebrate spring with First Friday April. Here are five things you will want to check out this month:

1.)  Chalk Art in the Market District

Take a stroll through the Market District and enjoy beautiful chalk art created by nearby high school and college students! Students from Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy, William Penn Senior High School, York Suburban High School, York Academy Regional Charter School and the Maryland Institute College of Art will make the sidewalks of Beaver Street and West Philadelphia Street their canvas on First Friday. Stop by anytime throughout the day to check out their progress!

2.)  Date Night at Central Market

Join Make:Craft from 6:30-8:30 p.m. inside Central Market York, for a date night culinary experience with an artisan pizza dinner! You and your partner will learn how to make pizza from scratch along with a chopped salad and panna cotta. After you finish your food creations, you can enjoy them during a sit-down dinner. 3.)  Celebrate Esaan Thai Restaurant’s 10th Anniversary

Essan Thai Restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Downtown York! As a thank you for 10 years of support, the Beaver Street restaurant will offer special meals, drinks and treats starting on First Friday. Reservations are welcome, and the restaurant is BYOB!

4.)  Enjoy Nature at Gallery at 227

Wander through the WeCo District and be sure to stop in to the Gallery at 227 for its art exhibit, “Inspired by Nature.” Embrace the beautiful works of art while enjoying refreshments. A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to NAMI York (National Alliance for Mental Health).

5.)  Ribbon Cutting at Venture

The First Friday fun starts early in the Royal Square District, with a grand-opening ribbon cutting ceremony for Venture at 2:30 p.m.! The fun continues at the gallery through the night with live music, a gift basket drawing and beautiful artwork from spring 2019 featured artist, Wendy Hostler.
