Back-to-school may be on the brain, but don’t let that stop you and your family from enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation! Experience a night of food, festivities and fun in Downtown York during First Friday August Presented by WellSpan Heath. Visit downtown businesses, shop the street vendors and experience live entertainment from 5-9 p.m., this Friday. Here are five things you won’t want to miss this month:
1.) A Peachy First Friday in the Market District
Feeling peachy? From 5-9 p.m., the Market District York is holding its first Peach Festival sponsored by Brown's Orchards on Beaver Street! Enjoy a delicious tasting competition, an abundance of vendors, and at 8:30 p.m., witness a pie in the face for charity contest featuring Silas Chamberlin and Lou Rivera! Silas will be working to raise money for Downtown York, PA's First Friday Fund, and Lou will be raising money for Latinos Unidos of York and The Movement. They will be raising money for each others charities - whoever raises the most gets a pie to the face! There will be 2 ways to donate and have a say in who get pied in the face- a donation table set up on N. Beaver St and Silas & Lou will be roaming the Market District until 8:00 p.m. with donation jars.
2.) Graffiti Art in Continental Square
Graffiti artist Jonathan Molina will show off his skills with a demonstration on Continental Square (in front of The Rupp Building). Come watch as this master of spray paint turns plain objects into beautiful works of art. He will also conduct a mural drawing demo for kids.
3.) First Friday Latino in Royal Square
Latinos Unidos of York will bring First Friday Latino sponsored by The Parliament Arts Organization to The Cantina York in the Royal Square District. From 6-10 p.m., support an amazing organization by dancing the night away with music from live Latin infusion band, Los Monstros.
4.) The Trick ‘R Treaters Take on WeCo
The Trick 'R Treaters, a professional acting troupe, will partner with Alba Rosa Cat Parlour and the Gallery @ 227 to offer an evening of art and live entertainment!
