First Friday February is almost here, and businesses in Downtown York will have you feeling the love. In honor of Valentine’s Day, some of the merchants will celebrate the holiday a little early with themed First Friday festivities or events perfect for an early Valentine’s date night. Here are five things you don’t want to miss:

1.) Market St. Valentine Window Display Contest

Businesses throughout the Market District have decided to hold a fun contest to see who can come up with the best Valentine’s Day themed storefront display. Businesses participating include “Foster’s Flower Shop,”“My Girlfriends Wardrobe,” “Creative York,” “The Watchmakers Daughter,” “Kalettas,” “Lele B’s Boutique,” “Indigo Bleu,” “Revolt Style Studio,” “Ewe and Me Yarn Shop” and “York Unique Emporium.” Stop in to each participating business to vote for your favorite display and you’ll be entered to win a Market District reusable tote bag filled will goodies from some of the participating stores!

2.) February Exhibit “Corazon” at HIVE Artspace

Join HIVE artspace in the Royal Square District for the opening reception for its February exhibit, “Corazon.” This heart-themed exhibit is sure to impress both hopeless romantics and people who are anti Valentine’s Day. Whichever you may be, HIVE has a heart for you: happy hearts, black hearts, broken hearts, mending hearts and so much more.  During the reception, meet some of the featured artists and visit HIVE’s resident artists’ studios. Plus, there is a free pin featuring artwork from the exhibit for the first 25 visitors.

3.) Supper Club at Tutoni’s

Nothing says date night like a nice Italian dinner followed by live music and dancing. Stop by Tutoni’s and try one of its amazing entrees and cocktails, and at 9:30 p.m., the First Friday fun continues with Supper Club, an after-hours dance party in the upstairs bar and dining room. DJ Cashmire will be spinning live music and the bar will be offering drink specials, like its $5 house punch.

4.) Entertainment at the Appell Center

Come as a couple or bring the whole family to the Appell Center for the Performing Arts for double the fun. The Appell Center presents its free First Friday CapFilm, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids,” at 6:30 p.m., and “Jazz in the City,” from 5-7 p.m. in The Studio at the Appell Center. Tickets for both events are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Visit appellcenter.org for ticket information.

5.) “Feline” the Love at Rosa Alba’s Cat Parlour

Looking to celebrate the holiday with a furry friend? Rosa Alba’s Cat Parlour in the WeCo District can offer you a cat to spend time with! In honor of First Friday, the parlour will offer extended hours along with a unique meet-and-greet session with its “Temple Guardian”/resident feline, Nana. For a $1 cash donation, you can take a “selfie” with the Nana. There will also be souvenirs from “Nana’s Nook” for purchase. The parlour is cozy, so admission is limited.
