The Cultural Alliance of York County, York Container, and other community partners are bringing the Global Cardboard Challenge event to York on October 10, 2015 from 10am-2pm at York Academy Regional Charter School at 32 W. North Street in York, inviting the community to come out and play during National Arts & Humanities Month.

Inspired by the short film, ‘Caine’s Arcade,’ the Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual event presented by the Imagination Foundation that celebrates child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. Last year, 125,000 people from 46 countries joined together in a global day of play to build anything they could dream up using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination. This year, York will take part in the fun!

The community is invited to participate in this free, fun day of creativity. It’s open to individuals, teams, and groups of all sizes/ages. There will be a large supply of cardboard along with some additional supplies to create your corrugated masterpiece, snacks, drinks, and fun games to entertain during the event.

“We’re so excited to have York take part in this global day of play,” said Kelley Gibson, Director of Communication and Engagement at the Cultural Alliance. “Our mission is to bring arts and culture to life, and we’re thrilled to host this day where York can come together to collaborate, imagine, and create as a community. October is National Arts & Humanities Month, and the Community Cardboard Challenge is a great way to connect to each other through the arts.”
