First Friday in Downtown York PA


EVERYONE is invited to attend First Friday in Downtown York, presented by WellSpan Health

First Friday is a celebration of Downtown shops, restaurants, cultural venues, and nightlife hotspots. From 5:00PM - 9:00PM, downtown shops and restaurants host special events, offer refreshments & promotions, and sponsor live entertainment. 

Who’s out on Beaver Street?
Repairer of The Breach Ministries of York PA will have raffle tickets to support their Thanksgiving Basket give a way to York residents!
- Blessed Assurance Farm will have hand made lotions made with goat's milk from their small farm in Red Lion. Also check out their new Spring collection!
- Come talk with Rise Up York to find out more information about their organization and what they do!
York County Hispanic Coalition will have coloring available for kids and adults, as well as DIY maracas and a piñata fundraiser! You can take a chance at smashing the piñata for $2/swing or two swings for $5!
- Salvador Galdamez from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices will have information about housing and the housing market in York!
Edible Arrangements will be set up with samples, and a raffle to win free arrangements!
- Stop by the Downtown York, PA table to get some useful information regarding the city!
YCDS Cyber Hounds will be selling baked goods and will have a raffle!
- Come say hi to the York City Derby Dames, and learn more about their team and the upcoming season!
WeCo York PAHistoric Newton Square Neighborhood, York, PA will have information on Creekfire and will be also be selling tickets for the Historic Newton Square Neighborhood's "Secret Gardens of York 2017" tour!
Not One More - York Chapter will be giving out information and talking with event attendees!
- Check out OrangeMite Studios - an educational Shakespeare performance company from Dover! They will be promoting their upcoming 2017 season, and their Youth summer camp!
- Miss York County and Miss White Rose will be handing out information and taking photos with attendees!
- Stop by Members 1st Federal Credit Union's booth, they’ll be giving out credit union information, and fun prizes!

Under the artistic direction of Jeff Stabley, Jazz in the City will welcome Tim Thompson, Kirk Reese, and Steve Meashey from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Studio at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5, or FREE with a student ID. Jazz in the City is sponsored by the City of York.

Elks Lodge #213 - York, PA (223 North George Street)
Put on your dancing shoes for LIVE music with Reminisce Band playing your favorite Motown and oldies from 8:00PM – 12:00AM. $10 cover. Dinner is available from 5:00PM – 9:00PM. Ring the buzzer at the front door to be admitted. Non-members can enter a drawing for a $25 Lodge Gift Certificate.

House of Yoga (19 West Market Street)
Join the House of Yoga community for a high energy and invigorating flow in support of Inclusive Arts Movement York's upcoming youth photo class at Studio 117. The cost of tuition for the six-week photography class is $80/student -- and we're sponsoring enrollment through your generous donation. Seven students x $80 = $560, hence the name 560 Flow. We'll be turning the music up loud, turning the lights down low and sweating together for a two hour practice to close out your First Friday. 100% of the proceeds of your $20 donation will go to Inclusive Arts Movement York.

Isaac’s Restaurants (54 West Market Street)
We will be serving complimentary light refreshments starting at 4:30PM. Sarah Leeann will also be playing live music from 5:30PM – 8:00PM. Sarah is a solo acoustic act doing covers from bands like Green Day, Coldplay, The Fray, OneRepublic, and more, plus a few oldies and originals mixed in. Stop in and check out the new location! 

META, A Hair Studio (15 South Beaver Street)
Join us for a celebration of the community created hair studio, Meta. We will have a ribbon cutting at the studio at 4:30, followed by a ribbon cutting for the Weinbrom Building at 5:00PM in front of Isaac's. Come check out our new digs, see the prints from our very first very meta photoshoot, as well as all of the self-portraits donated by local artists- they are incredible! Music, snacks, drinks, giveaways, the introduction of "Meta Mug Shots", and all of the biggest smiles to ensue! Can't wait to see you there:)

Revolt Style Studio (24 North Beaver Street)
Stick with Vintage this First Friday! We're upcycling our unique vintage housewares into mini cactus planters (cute cacti included!). We're only making a limited amount, so it's first come first serve. Open late 10:00AM – 9:00PM!

King Brät will be set up on Beaver St. in front of the Taste Test building slinging our gourmet sausages and unique toppings. Stop by to try our Cinco de Mayo Special, the Choriz-olé, our take on a Mexican Street Corn dog! Seasoned grilled corn and Queso Fresco on a local chorizo sausage topped off with a cool chipotle crema... You don't want to miss this! Vegan options available while supplies last!

Sweet Melissa's Dream (38 North Beaver Street)
Our special guest, Catalina will be sharing her traditional Mexican culture through homemade tamales and handmade crafts with authentic flair. Stop down and chat with her, she will be in the shop from 5:00PM – 9:00PM.

Kimman's will be serving a refreshing lime cocktail and there will be a gift with purchase suitable for giving to the favorite lady in your life.

Historic York Inn/ Smyser-Bair House (30 South Beaver Street)
The Smyser-Bair House / Historic York Inn, Berkshire Hathaway, and the Lit And Art Reading Series invite you celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style this First Friday in this historic mansion from the 1830s in the heart of the revitalized South Beaver Street block of downtown York’s historic district. The evening will include free snacks, margaritas, a beer tasting, palatial tours, original art, and a full program of readings by local and regional authors from the York and Baltimore areas. Not to mention original artwork by Manzar and live music by Red Sammy. Featured poets and authors include Barbara DeCeasar, Sid Gold, Sam Schmidt, Laura Shovan, Nitin Jagdish, and Eric D. Goodman. Pick up a book, painting, or CD from a local or regional author, artist, or musician—and get it personally inscribed or autographed. Or, if you’re in the mood for a larger souvenir of the evening, the mansion is up for sale!

Goodridge Freedom Center (123 East Philadelphia Street)
Harriet Tubman led hundreds to Freedom and served her people in many ways. Come experience Bertha Palmer’s rendition of Harriet Tubman, which she has performed for churches, schools, veteran and Masonic lodges, the York City Parks and for black history events statewide. Talks will take place at 5:30PM and 7:00PM. A donation is requested for those attending the talks. There will also be tours of the Goodridge Freedom Center from 4:00PM – 8:00PM. 

Coffee, Teas, and Thee, LLC (15 South Pershing Ave)

Stop by to celebrate Cino de Mayo with Strawberry Margaritas, a beer tasting by Rusty Rail, and Wash Your Mouth Out Soap is offering 2 bars for $10. Finally with a $25 purchase at Redeux you get a free tote! 

OMG Studios (57 East King Street)
OMG Studios is the perfect stop to be the face of Frida Kahlo in our Cinco de Mayo themed picture board. Sip a margarita with us and peruse the new artwork for sale in all three studios.
