EVERYONE is invited to attend First Friday in Downtown York presented by WellSpan Health!
First Friday is a celebration of Downtown shops, restaurants, cultural venues, and nightlife hotspots. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., downtown shops and restaurants host special events, offer refreshments and promotions, and sponsor live entertainment.
Downtown Inc also extends a special thank you to the Cultural Alliance of York County for its generous support of arts and cultural entertainment during First Friday.
First Friday October
FIRST FRIDAY ACTIVITIES ON CONTINENTAL SQUARE
Live Entertainment on the Stage
5-6 p.m.: Men of Color. A local singing group with a current member of the Drifters, Jerome Manning, and two of his friends, Dwayne Hannigan and Robert “Pete” Williams, will perform R&B, soul and Motown songs form the ’60s. Songs include “My Girl,” “Wonderful World,” “My Imagination” and many more. The group has been performing for the past eight to nine years at local facilities and agencies throughout York such as Crispus Attucks, Community Progress Council, and various eldercare and rehab centers.
5:30-5:45 p.m.: York College of Pennsylvania is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2018-19 academic year. We are holding a weeklong celebration from Oct. 1-7, and we would like to take the party downtown on Friday, October 5. Festivities will include a birthday celebration with cupcakes for all to enjoy, reading of a proclamation by York Mayor Michael Helfrich, a performance by our student a cappella group Rhapsody, and a visit by Screamer. Rain location is Marketview Arts.
5:45-6 p.m.: Men of Color return to the stage.
6-7:30 p.m.: The The Victrola Dance Hall Swing Dance and Fashion
7:45-9 p.m.: Line Dancing
Come see the MEGA BRAIN during First Friday in Downtown York! Take a walk through this 12-foot-high inflatable exhibit to learn how the brain works and how stroke and other health conditions and diseases can affect it. The MEGA BRAIN will be located at Continental Square from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, October 5. Come discover how your brain works - from the inside out!
Vendors will include Carol Hill-Evans, the Democratic Party of York County, Sigafoose Chiropractic, Living Word Church, Mischal Boutique and Garbs for Good.
FIRST FRIDAY ACTIVITIES IN THE MARKET DISTRICT
York Traditions Bank (100 N. George St.)
To culminate our grand opening festivities, we are open during First Friday in our Downtown branch which is also the night of YWCA's annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. Tour the branch, meet our team and enjoy samples from Gift Horse Brewing Company and a bite to eat from Rockfish Public House, while supplies last.
In celebration of the opening of our new Downtown York office, we are collecting shoes for LifePath Christian Ministries, If you so desire, bring a new or gently worn pair of shoes to donate. Men's work boots are especially needed, but any size and style is appreciated.

Aperitivo Hour, each drink purchased receives complimentary bites from the kitchen, at the TT Bar from 4 p.m. to -6 p.m. Supper Club, an after-hours dance party with a DJ in our TT Bar from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. The King George Club will have live music from Swing Street and is open to the public on First Fridays.
The Left Bank Restaurant & Bar (120 N. George St.)
First Friday Happy Hour at the Bar, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Appetizer, cocktail, wine and beer specials at the bar. Check out The Left Bank's Facebook page for menu announcements that day.
Elks Lodge #213 - York, PA (223 N. George St.)
CRYSTAL HAZE (members of Cheap Sneakers) will be rocking the lodge with music from the ’60s and ’70s from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. NEW “FRIDAY” MENU! Create a spooky collage with colored paper at Creative York! We will also have our Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival community mural on display and available as a photo station for visitors. While you are here you can enjoy two new exhibits in our galleries as well: regional artists Andrea Collins, Les Jones and Josh Weber are featured in the Kerlin Gallery, and Baltimore artist Sanzi Kermes will have a new installation in The Project Space.

Join us for the GRAND OPENING of the Glenalvin J. Goodridge Photographic Gallery Reproduction from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tour our NEW 1850s photo gallery and learn from three experts as they explain the history of one of the earliest African-American photo pioneers. Grant R. Romer, Larry J. West and Joseph Shane will present at 5:30 p.m. on what Glen unbelievably accomplished, right here in Downtown York, by learning the art and science of making the first photographs: daguerreotypes.
This event is FREE and family friendly. And, if you have a 19th-century family photo and need help identifying if it's a daguerreotype, tintype or ambrotype, bring it along!

We will have half-priced Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and $5 drink specials all night. Paco's will be in our 105 space with street tacos and tortas. We will have live music from the band THE from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Collusion is featuring $3 pints of our beloved Auckland Kolsch from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
HIVE artspace (126 E .King St.)
Start your haunting season off with the opening reception for The Annual Spooky Art Show at HIVE artspace! This group exhibit features more than 30 artists showing artworks from creepy to creepy-cute. Free limited-edition pin featuring artwork from the exhibit for the first 25 guests, plus light refreshments and a special treat for the kiddos. Costumes welcome!
First Friday LATINO OCTOBER
EVERYONE is invited to attend First Friday Latino, a monthly celebration of the strong Latino community in Downtown York, and beyond. This FREE celebration is hosted at a new location each month. Join us for live music, drinks, dancing, food and much more!
October’s First Friday Latino will be held at CASA's York Welcome Center, 225 E. Princess St., York, PA 17403.
Guests can enjoy food from Mi Caldero Restaurante and El Serrano York. Salsa lessons kick off at 7 p.m., with a DJ and dancing to follow at 8 p.m.
