A York County native who spent the past two years working in the local tourism industry, Staub will oversee Downtown Inc’s marketing and communications initiatives, including media relations, social media and e-newsletters. He will also be responsible for the publication of the triannual Downtown York magazine and management of Downtown Inc’s website,

Staub will also play a key role in Downtown Inc’s portion of the “Branding York” initiative, a process intended to support significant investments in marketing for Downtown York in future years.

Last year, Downtown Inc and the York County Community Foundation received a $100,000 York County Tourism Grant to undertake a branding study for both Downtown York and York County.

A steering committee — with representatives from Downtown Inc, the York County Community Foundation, the York County Economic Alliance, Main Street Hanover, the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Cultural Alliance of York County — is working with a destination branding firm for the project. Results from the research phase were recently released.

“Downtown Inc is approaching a pivotal point in the branding project, where months of strategic research is giving way to the development of creative assets and storytelling tactics that will shape the way people view Downtown York for years to come. We’re thrilled to have a seasoned storyteller and communications professional join Downtown Inc at this critical time,” said Silas Chamberlin, Chief Executive Officer of Downtown Inc. “Having Andrew on the team also will allow Downtown Inc to continue to provide daily marketing and communication services for the businesses in Downtown York. We know we have an incredible story to tell, and this is just another step toward ensuring the world realizes what we already know: Downtown York is a great place to live, work and play.”

Before joining Downtown Inc, Staub served as the Communications Specialist with the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, York County’s official tourist promotion agency.

During his time with the YCCVB, Staub worked with local, regional and national journalists, including CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg. He was also a member of the Mid-Atlantic Tourism Public Relations Alliance, where he served on the Media Committee and forged ties with travel journalists around the region.

“We’re surrounded by good stories in Downtown York. There are few things like experiencing a market day, joining friends for dinner during First Friday or exploring the history of a city with Revolutionary roots. With its rich culture, impressive architecture, creative culinary scene and more, Downtown York is a place that people want to experience,” Staub said. “It’s a privilege to join an organization that champions Downtown York, invests in its future and tells the story of the people who make it so dynamic.”

Before transitioning to a career in communications, Staub was an award-winning journalist, covering local and state governments for, The News-Journal (Wilmington, Delaware) and The Citizens’ Voice (Wilkes-Barre). He began his journalism career as a copy editor at The York Daily Record/Sunday News. He was a 2015 Robert Novak Journalism Fellow.

A member of the Public Relations Society of America, Staub graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He resides in New Freedom.
