YORK, PA Sarah’s Snacks has a new home for its retail store, but fans of the crunchy snacks won’t have to go far to enjoy the tasty granola they’ve come to know and love.

Previously known as Nuts About Granola, Sarah’s Snacks has moved down the block from 46 W. Philadelphia St., to 9 W. Philadelphia St., where it already housed its kitchen and production area.

Sarah’s Snacks and Downtown Inc will celebrate its grand re-opening during a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at the new location. Media and the public are invited to attend.

The shop will offer a special 10 percent off sale on bulk items, and will give away Sarah’s Snacks mugs to the first 20 customers who spend $20.

“We’re eager to show off our new retail location during First Friday. We invite everyone to visit while enjoying everything Downtown York offers,” said Sarah Lanphier, CEO of Sarah’s Snacks. “Though we’re moving our operations into one space, customers will still find their favorite granola products on the same block as before and within walking distance of Central Market. While we may be in a new location, not much will change.”

The store will be open during Market Days – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Sarah’s Snacks will also offer extended hours during First Fridays, opening from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Inside the store, customers will find a small market offering Sarah’s Snacks’ products, as well grab-and-go drinks, locally made artisan foods and ice cream.

The move is just the latest development for an entrepreneurial success story. What started as a college project for Lanphier in 2009 has grown into a successful business for her and her mother Gayle, a registered dietician and Sarah’s business partner.

In addition to being a local favorite, the company’s snacks have caught the eye of larger retailers. Target and Costco have both sold Sarah’s Snacks products. Now, Wegman’s will also sell Sarah’s Snacks products in select stores, another boost for the local business.

All the while, Sarah’s Snacks has maintained roots in a city that is undergoing a significant renaissance.

The opening of Sarah’s Snacks new retail store is just one of several changes coming to the corner of Philadelphia and George streets in Downtown York. York Traditions plans to open a new branch next door, and the Appell Center for Performing Arts is renovating its Capitol Theatre across the street.

“By this fall, a key corner of Downtown York will feel even more vibrant and alive, thanks to the continued investment of companies such as Sarah’s Snacks,” said Silas Chamberlin, CEO of Downtown Inc, York’s downtown improvement organization. “We thank the team at Sarah’s Snacks for making Downtown York their home base.”
