FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YORK, PA – Downtown York’s fashion flair will take center stage during York City Boutique Week, which returns September 7-14 with a full lineup of events showcasing the entrepreneurs, designers and store owners who have made the city a regional shopping destination.
“In Downtown York we’re fortunate to have a wide variety of boutiques with distinct personalities and styles. Boutique Week is our opportunity to celebrate that diversity,” said Jessica Weikert, the owner of Revolt Style Studio and a Boutique Week organizer. “Whether it’s a classic vintage look, or fashion-forward designs made in the same shop where you buy, you’ll see it during Boutique Week. And better yet, you can often take the look home with you.”
Now in its seventh year, Boutique Week will officially kick off during First Friday on September 7 with participating stores hosting live mannequins, trunk shows and more from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Boutique Week will continue with a Walking Tour at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 9. Organized as a progressive happy hour, groups will rotate between several downtown boutiques. Each location will feature either a wine from The Handsome Cab or an appetizer from a downtown restaurant. Storeowners will meet each group as they shop their way across the downtown. Tickets are $25.
Food and fashion come together at noon, Tuesday, September 11, at Revival Social Club for the annual Boutique Week Luncheon. Guests will enjoy a buffet-style lunch of soup, salad and sandwiches as they see the best of fall trends during an intimate, behind-the-scenes mini fashion show. Guests can “shop the looks,” thanks to boutique pop-ups in the restaurant’s upstairs event space. Tickets are $25.
York City Boutique will culminate with the popular Fashion Show at 6 p.m., Friday, September 14, at the Valencia Ballroom. Models will feature stunning fall fashion finds – all from Downtown York retailers – during a runway-style show. Attendees can sip on a specialty drink while perusing pop-up boutiques and enjoying music from the Unforgettable Big Band. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
While fashion is at the forefront, restaurants, coffee shops and other attractions can also participate with specialty drinks, unique menu items and more.
“Boutique Week showcases the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that defines Downtown York,” said Silas Chamberlin, CEO of Downtown Inc, Downtown York’s improvement organization. “This is our chance to show that art can be found not just in our galleries and museum, but also in storefronts and racks all across the downtown.”
