FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YORK, PA - After seven months of recuperating from an epic National French Fry Day challenge, Silas Chamberlin is back but with an appetite for something a little cheesier.

Saturday, February 9, is National Pizza Day, and Chamberlin, the Vice President of Economic and Community Development at the York County Economic Alliance, will celebrate by eating a slice of pizza from nine Downtown York locations, all in one day. Downtown Inc has announced this saucy journey as the Downtown Pizza Crawl.

Chamberlin’s latest culinary challenge follows July’s National French Fry Day, when Chamberlin took on a challenge that no one has before. He ate French fries from all 27 downtown locations.

Now, Chamberlin has been in training for the last few weeks, slowly but surely switching his diet from French fries to pizza. He believes with such success from National French Fry Day, he will conquer this challenge no problem.

“After eating French fries from 27 places in one day, you would think I had enough of these food challenges, but here I am. I have accepted the Downtown Pizza Crawl challenge and am determined to eat at least nine slices of pizza if not more,” Chamberlin said. “While I’m gorging myself on cheesy slices of heaven, we’ll also highlight the creative chefs and restaurateurs who have helped make Downtown York a dining destination.”

The Downtown Pizza Crawl will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and run until 7 p.m. Chamberlin will stop at traditional pizza shops downtown including Marcello’s and DiCarlo’s, and even some unexpected stops such as Subway. Local celebrity tasters will join Chamberlin at some of his stops to hang out and eat a slice with him.

The stops along the Downtown Pizza Crawl include:

  1. Jim and Nena’s

  2. Mezzogiorno

  3. Subway

  4. DiCarlo’s

  5. Iron Horse York

  6. The Fig & Barrel Pub

  7. Marcello’s

  8. Pizza Boli’s

  9. Granfalloons Tavern

Tune into the Downtown York, PA Facebook page on Saturday for live updates from Chamberlin’s journey.
