YORK, PA – Grace Quartey, a certified public accountant with more than two decades of professional experience, has joined the York Business Improvement District Authority’s Board of Directors, Downtown Inc announced on Thursday.
Since 2003, Quartey has offered expert accounting, tax, and business consulting services to hundreds of individuals and small businesses through her firm of Grace T. Quartey, CPA, MBA. She also has worked as a compliance auditor for the State of Maryland and as a financial consultant with Smith Barney in York.
In addition to her accounting work, Quartey also co-founded a nonprofit organization, Building Solid Foundations, that helps develop rural Ghana in West Africa. It has sent medical teams to the country, improved sanitation around schools and a hospital, built the area’s first playground and much more.
Quartey’s nomination was submitted to York Mayor Michael Helfrich and unanimously approved by City Council earlier this month.
The 10-person YBIDA Board of Directors provides oversight of the Business Improvement District, which encompasses the 26 square blocks of Downtown York.
