The Pennsylvania Downtown Center honored Downtown Inc last week with a Townie Award in the General Image category for the 2018 launch of the “Historically Edgy” destination brand. Downtown Inc accepted the award during the annual Pennsylvania Downtown Center Conference in Erie.
“Downtown Inc is honored to receive this recognition from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. This award is affirmation that our Historically Edgy brand has the potential to elevate Downtown York to the next level as a tourism destination,” Downtown Inc Director Elaine Bonneau said. “Downtown Inc looks forward to working with its community partners to use the brand to attract more visitors to a downtown that already features several of York County’s top tourist attractions. Our city has a compelling story to tell, and this brand continues to give us an authentic way to articulate what makes our downtown distinct.”
Downtown Inc launched the “Historically Edgy” Downtown York brand in 2018. It was developed through the same collaborative and community-driven process that led to the creation of the new “Have It Made Here” county destination brand. The two brands draw from the same research, have integrated branding platforms and share visual elements.
Downtown Inc manages the downtown destination brand, and Explore York manages the county brand.
Both receive support from a Brand Management Team comprised of seven community organizations: the Cultural Alliance of York County, Downtown Inc, Explore York, Main Street Hanover, the York County Community Foundation, the York County Economic Alliance and York County government.
